Tracy Dando is more than just an entrepreneur; she is an advocate for healing, community, and transformation. Based in central New York, Tracy's story is one of resilience and an unyielding commitment to creating spaces where individuals can rediscover their authentic selves and connect meaningfully with others. Her path was not straightforward, marked by personal challenges and revelations that ultimately led her to establish groundbreaking initiatives that empower those facing mental health struggles, personal growth barriers, and societal stigmas.

A Story Rooted in Overcoming Adversity

Tracy’s entrepreneurial journey began not with a strategic business plan, but through years of personal survival and growth. “I didn’t plan on creating a business, let alone a nonprofit,” she shares. For decades, Tracy’s life was defined by a struggle with identity and survival mechanisms developed in response to difficult times. It was only through her battle with an eating disorder and a deep personal healing process that she unearthed the true power of emotional connection and community.

Her realization came in treatment when she started peeling away the layers of learned behaviors and expectations that masked her true self. “I was amazed by the magic that happened through emotional connection,” Tracy recounts. This experience planted the seed for her future projects, all aiming to facilitate similar breakthroughs for others.

Creating Safe Spaces for Growth

Tracy founded Safe Space CNY, a nonprofit that embodies her mission of fostering emotional growth and resilience. This initiative aims to offer individuals a supportive environment where they can share experiences, grow together, and break down the barriers imposed by isolation and societal expectations. Central to her work is the belief that emotional well-being should be nurtured within a community, countering the modern drift toward disconnected living.

One of the most remarkable aspects of Safe Space is its inclusivity. It is not a place where people stay indefinitely but rather a stepping stone for those in transition, offering support until individuals are ready to move forward independently. This dynamic environment allows participants to share tools, experiences, and resources, naturally cultivating a sense of solidarity and mutual encouragement.

Beyond Safe Space: A Multifaceted Approach to Coaching

Tracy’s work extends beyond Safe Space into personal coaching through her own brand. From guiding those recovering from eating disorders to transformational growth coaching, her services are anchored in her own life lessons. As someone who has faced the depths of disordered eating and emerged stronger, Tracy provides clients with the compassionate insight of someone who truly understands. She emphasizes that eating disorders are coping strategies rather than definitions of who someone is, focusing on addressing the root causes and building a comprehensive support system.

Her coaching approach isn’t limited to one-on-one sessions. Tracy's retreats and group events, like the collaboration project "Root to Rise," foster community-centric healing. Root to Rise, led by her partners Megan and Jamie, exemplifies how a shared experience can create bonds and facilitate personal growth.

Expanding Horizons and Future Goals

Tracy’s ambition does not stop at the borders of central New York. She envisions Safe Space expanding into other communities, and adapting to local needs while maintaining its core mission of fostering collective growth and resilience. She is also venturing into new areas with plans for public speaking engagements and is currently working on her first book. These new initiatives are part of her ongoing journey to discover her post-transformation identity while sharing her story to inspire others.

The Heart of the Mission

What makes Tracy’s work stand out is her dedication to vulnerability and authenticity. In a world where emotional expression is often stigmatized, she champions the idea that true healing begins with acknowledging and sharing our hidden selves. Through Safe Space, her coaching, and her public outreach, Tracy is redefining what it means to seek help and find strength in the community.

Tracy Dando’s life and work remind us that growth is not a solitary journey. It is a communal effort, rooted in shared experiences, open dialogue, and a willingness to be vulnerable. For those who cross paths with Tracy, they find not just an entrepreneur or a coach but a compassionate guide helping them navigate their own stories of resilience and transformation.
